Window and door locks 'can increase tenant peace of mind'

Posted on 30 September 2008

Window and door locks Landlords looking to attract tenants in the current uncertain economic climate should make sure flats are fitted with window locks, spyholes and good quality door locks in order to put their minds at rest, it has been claimed.

According to Landlord Expert, home security is one of the main issues for those looking to rent a property.

Writing on the website, experienced property developer Tony Booth said the perception of ground-floor properties in particular is that they are susceptible to being broken into.

He added while this is not always an accurate perception, landlords should take the relevant measures to make renters feel more confident.

"Window locks, spyholes and good quality door locks are relatively cheap to install and I would recommend adding passive infrared security lighting to vulnerable back gardens," he continued.

This week, the Bracknell Forest Standard reported police in Sunningdale have advised elderly people in the town to use padlocks in order to combat distraction burglaries.
